The Junior Rifle program celebrates with a pizza party

The Franklin Revolver & Rifle Association 2015 Junior Rifle Program celebrated the end of this year’s session with a pizza party and award ceremony. Each participant received a certificate, a trophy, and a NRA cap from Club President Don Richard.

These classes are held during the summer months with NRA Certified Instructor Adam Levin teaching the students firearm safety and the fundamentals of shooting. Then students get to experience hands-on shooting with a .22 rifle on the range under the watchful eyes of their coaches. Instructors and coaches are club members who volunteer their time to this program as a community service.

This year NRA Life Members, Jerry and Rosemary Lyon, surprised their 15 year old granddaughter, Amber Loomis, with a Junior NRA Life Membership during the celebration. This makes 3 generations of NRA Life Members in the Franklin Revolver & Rifle Association as Patty Lyon, Amber’s mother, is also a NRA Life Member. Thanks to a grant received from the Friends of NRA the club was able to expand its Junior Rifle Program which is offered to youth 12 years of age and older. The Friends of NRA also supplies ammunition, ear and eye protection and necessary equipment.
